PhD in Materials For Health, Environment and Energy
Profile
Barbara Mecheri is Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Science and Technologies of the University of Roma Tor Vergata.
She received her Master Degree in Chemistry at the University of Florence (Italy) and her PhD in Materials Science at the University of Catania (Italy). She was a Post-Doc researcher at the University of Tokyo (Japan), under the frame of the Italy-Japan Joint Lab for research on nanostructured materials for environment and energy.
Since 2006, she has been in charge of teaching Chemistry and Chemistry for Energy for Bachelor/Master of Engineering and Chemistry Courses at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. She has been also advisor of Master Degree thesis and PhD Thesis of the International Ph.D. Program in Materials for Health, Environment and Energy, University of Rome Tor Vergata, being part of the academic board of the PhD program.
Her research interests are broadly in manipulation of matter in the micro- and nano-metric scale, including preparation, characterization and application of nanostructured molecular surfaces and materials. Over the last ten years, her research activity has been focused on electrochemistry of energy conversion and storage devices, structure and transport properties in polymer electrolytes, nanostructured electrocatalysts for fuel cells, redox flow batteries, and bioelectrochemical systems. She has established and managed successful collaborations and partnership with research groups at international research institutes and universities, including INRS-Varennes (Canada), University of São Paulo (Brazil), The University of New Mexico (US), Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (Japan), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland).
She has been peer reviewer for international scientific journals, including Journal of Electrochemical Society, Electrochemistry Communications, Energy & Environmental Science, Journal of Power Sources, Electrochimica Acta, Environmental Science and Technology, ACS Applied Materials&Interfaces, ACS Applied Energy Materials, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, Applied Catalysis B. She is also Member of the Editorial Board of Catalysts — Open Access Journal (ISSN 2073-4344; CODEN: CATACJ) published by MDPI, and Guest Editor of the Special Issue in Catalysts: Catalysts for Microbial Fuel Cells.
